Almost Four Months

Oops, I missed the three-month update. Owen continues to grow. He had his first bout of croup in September. I stayed home with him and loved on him and Daddy battled the poor little guy's stuffy nose. He also had an issue with his eye which turned out to be a blocked tear duct and is getting over a new round of sinus funk that he not so kindly shared with Mommy and Daddy.

Daddy was out of town for work this week, so it was a taste of the single mommy who works full time type of life. Oh and did I mention that we have two large dogs? I do not envy those ladies in the least. It's hard enough with two parents. But with one, who must work outside the home, accomplishing any housework can be quite the challenge. Still, I managed to do a load of laundry, clean half the kitchen, cook dinner one night and bathe Owen in the four days Chad's been gone.

This weekend is Halloween. Owen will look adorable tomorrow! Maybe I will get a few pictures of Halloween on here by Thanksgiving ...

Here's a couple pictures from the past two months.

His babysitters, Chrissy and Nicole, had some fun :-)

Two Months

Time flies. I can't believe Owen is already two months old. I've written several eloquently worded blogs in my head, but none have made it to typing since I often drift off to sleep while creating them in my mind. But as I sit here, left leg asleep, right foot under said leg and also falling asleep, holding a little boy who keeps waking up no sooner than he fell asleep, I decided to make an actual post.

Here is a list of things we've learned or experienced in the past two months, in no particular order.

1. It's rare to find changing tables in public places.

2. I'm a pro at changing Owen on my lap in the backseat of my car ... even if poop got all over my hand and even on his face.

3. Owen loves baths, but hates shampoo. He loves the water being poured over him.

4. There is nothing better than when your son responds to you with a smile.

5. At just 9 weeks old, O can hold his head up with very little wobble.

6. He prefers to sleep with a pillow under his head, snuggled up to me. That doesn't happen every night, but it does happen for a few hours roughly every other night because I prefer to sleep vs. battle.

7. Baby boy is finally vocal with coos. No better sound on earth right now.

8. His dogs love him. I do feel guilty, though, that they get less attention than they used to get. I try to play with them when I can and if this weather ever cooperates, I'll be the lady with the sled dog team in Florida. Except the sled will be a stroller (but it's a Bob. Get it? Bob sled!) And the huskies will be lab mixes, but they will mush and pull Owen and I down the road at full speed.

9. Owen already identifies the phone. He looks right at the camera. I guess that means I take way too many pictures. That reminds me, I need to buy a second card for my phone. I've almost filled 64 gigs.

10. If you wait long enough, you'll get the moments you've longed for, like a little boy latching on for nourishment, even if there isn't much available.

There's so much more I could write, but he is asleep in his bassinet now, so it's bedtime. Here's a few pictures.

Bath Time

Being first time parents, we weren't sure what the bathing schedule should be. Proor to his cord falling off, Owen got regular sponge baths. He received his first full bath July 18.
He was pretty tolerant.

The towel was one of his favorite parts.

How adorable is Owen in a robe and booties?

His second bath was July 21. He wasn't nearly as happy about it.

We got busy and need to work on our scheduling and priorities better, but he had his next bath tonight. This time Mommy washed him (Daddy had duty the first two times.) He didn't cry once, so it was a success!

It also knocked him out for awhile.
A sleeping baby means we get sleep. Sweet dreams to all!

Photo Fun Part 2 - Grandparents Visit

Owen already holds his bottles.

The little Captain sleeps.

The scholarly sailor.

His foot won't always fit in Mommy's hand.

Snuggles with Grandma.

Bonding with Grandpa.

I absolutely adore this outfit. And he makes it look even better!

When they won't sleep, desperate measures are taken.

Yes he is.

Too cool for school.

Learning about tummy time.

Waiting for Grandma to send the actual phpto, but our little family. (The dogs said no to completing the family photo.)

They are always ready to protect Owen, though.

Grandma tried to take him home with her.
